FREE Coach Education Series workshop

Football West has teamed up with the Western Australian Institute of Sport to offer coaches the chance to register for a free Coach Education Series workshop.

And those who register and attend will be allowed by Football Federation Australia to accumulate 10 Continuing Professional Development points (CPD) towards their accreditation.

WAIS physiologist Dr Paul Goods will present the workshop, which will look at practical recommendations for preparing for competition in the heat.

Key topics will include:

  • Heat acclimation and acclimatisation strategies pre-competition

  • Pre and per-cooling strategies on competition day

  • Hydration strategies to prevent fluid loss related performance decrement

The workshop will take place on Saturday 12 September, 2020, between 1-2.30pm. Particpants can either attend in person at WAIS High Performance Service Centre – Seminar Room, follow the live stream or secure a recording.

Interested parties must RSVP by Thursday, 10 September, 2020.

The workshop will be limited to 26 attendees but outside of these numbers coaches can attend via the live stream link.

Once the maximum capacity has been reached, coaches’ details will go onto a waiting list and they will be added to the live stream list.

The link will be sent to participants closer to the event.

For coaches to receive the 10 CPD points towards their accreditation, they must either attend the workshop in person or follow the live stream. Points will not be awarded for those who simply watch a recording.

After the workshop a self-reflection form will be sent out to all coaches to be completed before they are signed off as attended.

As this workshop is through WAIS, coaches will have to register via the link in the flyer below and through QMS HERE to ensure the points can be added to their accreditation.

Football West Development Officer Garry Church said: “This is a great opportunity to tap into the experienced coaching staff at Western Australia Institution of Sport (WAIS).

“There is an abundance of experience and knowledge at WAIS and having the opportunity to attend these workshops is fantastic. Thanks to WAIS Performance Services Program Manager Carolyn Morrison for allowing the football community to register for the workshop. I’m sure they will come away learning something important.”
