2020 FFA National Futsal Championships to go ahead as planned

Football Federation Australia and Capital Football have confirmed that the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships, scheduled for Canberra from 13-17 January, will proceed as planned.

With the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Canberra forecast to be ‘good’ for the next seven days and following extensive discussions with the competing member federations and venues, the decision was made to go ahead with the Championships.

The AQI in venues will be closely monitored to ensure that FFA standards are met, with the safety of players, officials and spectators of paramount importance.

Football West will send nine teams to the Championships – Boys U12 (two teams), U13, U14, U15 and U16; Men’s U19 and Girls U13 and U15. They will fly out of Perth on Sunday morning.

With more than a thousand people from interstate expected to come to Canberra for the event, the advice to those driving is to exercise caution and closely monitor the bushfire situation through the NSW Rural Fire Service and Country Fire Authority Victoria.

Information on the National Futsal Championships can be found at the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships website.

Our thoughts and best wishes remain with those people across Australia who have been directly impacted by the devastating bushfires.

Donations to bushfire and drought appeal can be made at Rural Aid.

Football West has arranged a bushfire charity match for Saturday, 18 January between an NPL All Stars XI and a State League All Stars XI.

The match will take place at Perth SC’s Dorrien Gardens, kick off 7pm.
