Football West's Smarter Than Smoking Skill Development Program is designed to improve player skills at the same time as providing appropriate challenges in a fun and safe environment at Curtin University’s Barblett Oval in Bentley.

SDP supplements club training, meaning program participants can continue to play and train in their club environment.
The program is based around Football Federation Australia’s National Curriculum. Players in U8 to U13 age groups focus on developing functional game skills, while the U14 and U15 programs target the development of tactical awareness, perception and decision making using a game-related approach.
SDP is run by accredited, experienced and friendly coaching staff, who provide a positive learning environment.
Sessions take place on Saturday mornings and are conducted as follows:
Term 1: October 17, 2015 to December 5, 2015
Term 2: February 6, 2016 to April 2, 2016
Term 3: April 30, 2016 to June 25, 2016
Term 4: July 23, 2015 to September 17, 2016
Session times are as follows:
U8, U9, U10 and U11: 8am to 9.15am
U12 and U13: 9.30am to 10.45am
U14 and U15: 9.30am to 10.45am
The program costs $605 for four terms of football and includes a Nike kit, consisting of jacket, jersey, shorts and socks.
For those who have more than one child in the program there is a discounted cost of $580 per child.
