This page contains all the information you need to get yourself registered as a match official with Football West for the upcoming season. Please ensure that you read ALL the information below, and all linked documents.
Registrations are now open for the 2016 season via the online MyFootballClub system. Please read the Self Registration Guide and follow the instructions to register. Please also note the registration deadlines for the various competitions as outlined int he Self Registration Guide, with the first being Monday 18 January for NPL & State League Night Series.
In previous seasons, Football West has absorbed all merchant fees associated with payments (2.3%). Unfortunately it has now come to a point whereby these charges will need to be passed on to the individual referees. Registration fees as a raw amount have not changed from 2015, other than the passing on of the merchant fee. All this information is included in the Self Registration Guide.
Copies of the 2016 FFA Laws of the Game book will initially be made available at the Annual Seminar (details below). After the annual seminar date, they can either be collected during office hours from Football West, training nights at Noranda Sports Complex, or at coaching nights throughout the year.
As per previous seasons, the 2016 Annual Seminar will be held at ECU Mt Lawley Campus on Sunday 14 February - more information can be found by clicking here to download the flyer. You can register your attendance for the seminar during the online registration process by using the “Purchase Additional Items” option.
As part of the FFA re-accreditation process, it is mandatory that ALL officials attend a minimum of one formal coaching session per year (Level 2 & 1 officials – minimum four per year), otherwise they must re-sit the course to renew their accreditation. Therefore, we highly recommend that as many people attend this seminar as possible – not just for re-accreditation purposes, but because it is the starting point of the season in ensuring that all officials are following the same instructions. Those officials who do not attend the Annual Seminar will find themselves a step behind the rest of their colleagues before the season has even started.
For this season there are significant interpretation changes to Law 11 (Offside), and as this law already causes plenty of confusion amongst players, coaches and spectators, it is vitally important that all officials are up to date with the changes. This year's seminar will see detailed video analysis of the changes and their application.
As was advised last season, the new design Kelme uniforms are compulsory for the 2016 season. I have been assured that Kelme has ample stocks at their new premises in Malaga (22 Enterprise Crescent), so please ensure that you have your kit ready before your first match. The last thing I want to do is fine people for incorrect uniforms - it will be a lot cheaper for you in the long run if you get them early!
Organised training sessions are up and running again - are you? These sessions are held at the Noranda Sports Complex athletics track, Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:45pm. Remember that no football boots are allowed to be worn on the athletics track, although they may be worn for sessions on the infield.
Fitness test dates have also been set for late-February & early-March for those panels that require it. All the details about fitness testing can be found by clicking here.
If anyone has any questions relating to the above, feel free to contact the Football West office. But PLEASE ensure that you have read all the information above and the linked documents carefully before phoning. Please remember that this is a very busy time of year, and most issues are caused by people not reading information carefully.
