The announcement comes following Football Federation Australia (FFA) revealing their new Possibles and Probables Candidates Program to ensure the elite male and female referee panels are chosen from the best available talent.
The selected panels will now enter the second phase of the program with a nine week fitness preparation program to ensure that all panel members reach an optimal fitness level in readiness for Round 1.
“We are excited by this new initiative as it is a program designed to continually raise the performances of the match officials,” said FFA CEO Ben Buckley.
“Refereeing plays an incredibly important part in the development of the Hyundai A-league and Westfield W-League competitions as well as creating another elite professional pathway for all aspiring young referees.”
The nine Football West referees selected are Mathew Cheeseman, Josh Mannella, Tim Mihevc, Michal Jasinski, Stuart Muldoon, Trent Fleskens, Renee Silvester, Jessica Ryan and Jennifer Wood.
Football West Referee Development Manager Eddie Lennie says he is pleased to welcome back veterans Mat Cheeseman and Josh Mannella to the panel for the 2012/13 season.
“It is also very encouraging to have new assistants with Tim, Michal & Stuart making their debuts in the HAL,” said Lennie.
“Even more pleasing is the inclusion of W-League Referee Renee Silvester and two new assistant referees, Jennifer and Jess.”
