Football Federation Australia and Football West coaches have kicked off a pilot project aimed at improving the quality of coaching in WA football.

FFA National Community Coach Development Manager Les Bee addressed more than 20 local coaches at Gibbney Reserve to encourage the appointment of Club Coach Coordinators to mentor others at club level.

Bee outlined the principles of the project, which will involve Club Coach Coordinators meeting with Football West and FFA officials at regular intervals during the year.

Club Coach Coordinators, through the guidance of Football West and FFA, will ensure sessions are safe, inclusive, organised, enjoyable and engaging.

Football West Development Officer Garry Church was pleased with the initial response to the project.

“It was fantastic to have Les here to present on a really important aspect of development,” Church said.

“There were a lot of enthusiastic coaches in the room, which bodes well for the game. This is all about coaches sharing information, solving problems and making the environment for our players the best it can possibly be.”

There’s still time for you and your club to join the Club Coach Coordinator program.
