The WA State team played for the first time in 1902 when a visiting England Cricket XI won 4-0 at Fremantle Oval.

Since then, the WA representative side has taken on some of the giants of the game - including Manchester United, Everton, Chelsea, Roma and AC Milan.

In 2015, Football West restored the Black Swan, used on many State jerseys over the years, to a new badge that also recognised the date of their first match.
