“To have Trent, Eli, Milljon and Cameron selected in the one squad is phenomenal and a great reward for their hard work this year. I am sure I speak on behalf of all the supporters of our great game here in Western Australia in wishing them well in their quest to wear the green and gold,” said Mr. Chandler.
Unfortunately Joshua Risdon was injured mid-way through the Championship and narrowly missed selection though previously named in the 30-man provisional squad. Additionally, Alex Pearson, who was in outstanding form all week as goalkeeper for the Football West U15 side, also narrowly missed being named in the team.
The four WA players will depart next week for Singapore in the side coached by Martyn Crook. The top two teams from each division will qualify.

Football West Education and Development Manager, Mr. Andrew Bettell, brings us all the action from the 2007 National Youth Championships. Under 14’s Day One - Football West 3 (Stewart 2; Bao) def Victoria Country 0
Day Two - NSW Metro 4 def Football West 1 (Sonpon) Started brightly with a good all round effort against Country Victoria. A neat opener from N. Bao set them on their way and a brace from M. Stewart sealed the victory on day one.Football West however came back down to earth on day two of competition against NSW Metro who had established themselves as group favourites with a come from behind win against Victoria Metro on day one (4-3).
Day Three - Football West 1 (Sonpon) drew Victoria Metro 1 Outstanding performance - dominated play from start to finish. Had seven one vs. GK chances but managed to convert only once. Victoria scored with their first meaningful attempt at goal with 6-mins remaining. Coach Chris Ola, whilst disappointed with the result, was pleased with the quality of performance from his side and acknowledged that progress to the semi-finals was in their own hands.
Day Four - Football West 0 vs. Tasmania 0
The team were involved in an end to end goaless draw against Tasmania. Again they failed to capatalise on several good chances but were also well saved by Frank Soale in goals. NSW Metro sealed their Semi-Final spot but the second place is a three way fight. Football West can finish on 8-points with a win over NSW Country tomorrow but they are dependent on the Tasmania vs. Victoria Metro score.
Day Five - Football West 1 (Sonpon) drew Country NSW 1 Still in with a chance of a Semi-Final berth (dependent on other results). Football West were fired up for action and were invovled in an end to end wrestle. Country took the lead mid-way through the first half and proceeded to dominate until the whistle. Second half saw Football West in the ascendency but they had to wait until 2-minutes from the end for the equaliser.
Day Six - Football West 1 (Sokolowski) drew Queensland Country 1 Lost 4-2 on penalities. Football West U14s finished the tournament in sixth position.
Under 15’s Day One - Football West 1 (Babalj) drew Capitol Football 1
Day Two - Football West 9 (Butshiire 3; Babalj 2; Arnez 2 and David) def Tasmania 1 After a pulsating first game against Capitol Football the team recorded a comfortable victory over Tasmania. 2006 winners South Australia went down 4-0 to NSW Metro on day one to throw the competition right open and Metro followed up with a comfortable win over Capitol on day two. Coach Kenny Lowe is pleased with their four points to date and looks forward to the clash against Queensland Metro this afternoon. “Being realistic we have four points more than we had going into day three last year and whilst this group is challenging the quality of football indicates we have nothing to fear if we play our style of game,” said Lowe. Day Three - Football West 2 (Linga; Babalj) def Queensland Metro 1
After a lackluster first half, which was shaded by Queensland, Football West ran out relatively comfortable winners despite the close score. Queensland deservedly took the lead midway through the first half with Football West struggling to get their flowing passing game going. However, E.Linga pounced on an error to square the game in the 31st minute. The second half saw Football West take control with incisive football. Babalj scored well and the pressure on Queensland was relentless.Whilst not scoring a third to finish the game, Coach Kenny Lowe was pleased with the outcome but indicated that more consistency was needed if the side intended to go all the way. Day Four - Football West 3 (Babalj 2; Butshiire) def South Australia 0 The 15s sealed their Semi-Final spot with a clinical win over 2006 U14 Champions South Australia. On a very hot day, Football West controlled both the tempo and possession. Eli Babalj notched his seventh goal for the tournament but missed his second hat-trick of the tournament. Milljon Butshiire notched his fourth of the series in a fabulous display of football. Day Five - Football West 1 (Babalj) lost to NSW 4 Football West were outgunned going down after only 15 seconds and 3-0 after 15 minutes. Eli Babalj pulled one back on the half hour and the next 20 minutes proved an arm-wrestle before NSW sealed the game late on. Coach Kenny Lowe says the boys are looking forward to a positive result against VIC Metro today and earning the right for a second crack at NSW on Saturday. Day Six - Football West 0 lost to Northern NSW 2 Football West U15s finished fourth A depleted squad, which featured four U14 players, were defeated this morning 2-0 by Nothern NSW. None of the Australian boys played due to injury, nor did Joshua Risdon who has been carrying an injury since mid-week.
