Stage 2 is progressing well with in Partnership with the Department of Sport and Recreation and a couple of Football West Clubs whose work we are looking to merge with to engage to further the Outreach for Diversity Program.

The Football Family rallied together in ‘99 to aid the Kosovo refugees, in ‘01 to help the East Timorese rebuild and most recently in ‘06 to help survivors of the Tsunami disaster.
This time we call on Clubs to help an initiative in our own community; the Outreach for Diversity (OFD) Program.

After your Club season ends in September, Stage 2 of OFD run by Football West in partnership with the Department of Sport and Recreation will commence engaging local Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and emerging communities.

The program presents otherwise impossible playing and development opportunities to the children and youths which are the least likely to be involved in any organised sporting or recreational activity. In stage 1 of OFD Football West started work to break down the barriers to participation for these young people in our sport including cost, transport, unfamiliarity with competition structure, language, etc.

We want to encourage these young people to join the Football Family through a fun and friendly format and older people within these communities to become coaches, referees and administrators.

Any decent equipment your Club can donate at the end of the season will be distributed to the hosting venues at locations around Perth and help continue this work into Stage 2 of this program and beyond. We have already received a generous donation of strips by Queens Park Soccer Club. Donor Clubs will be proudly be listed on the OFD honour board on the Football West website. Donor Clubs can upon request be advised down the track of what work their donations went to.

Equipment needed includes:
Playing boots
Size 5, 4 and 3 balls
Coaching aids
Cones
Bibs
Fitness and skill aids
Strips (shorts, shirts and socks)

If your Club is located in the South Perth to Fremantle corridor and has a large contingent of players from emerging communities or if you would like more information on the program or how to get involved with a local emerging community in your area, please contact Gordon Duus on (08) 9422 6900 or email .
