kelme_logo_and_paw_long.jpg264 kids hit the streets during the holidays, the Kelme streets that is. The street wise 10-15 yr olds teamed up to take part in the  Kelme Street Soccer  IV at Lords Sports Centre.

Spread over three day’s Kelme Street Soccer IV has shown the players aged from Under 10’s to Under 16’s, it’s cool to play football and improve your skills at the same time.

The Street Soccer Futsal program is an exciting form of the game where players earn points for tricks, fair-play and freestyle play, as well as for goals.

The youngster’s see their idols on the television performing tricks on the world stage and this is a chance to work on their skills in a unique atmosphere of funky music and futsal fun. The result is a high-paced and entertaining style that encourages players to be as creative and as imaginative as they can be,

Football West's Mark Lee runs the tournament ably assisted by the coaching staff
including Dan Cappellaro, Sean D'Arcy and Warren Grieve who provide a wonderful environment for the players to showcase their talents.

“The Kelme Street Tournament was designed to let players play in an environment unlike anything they had previously experienced,” said Lee.

“It is a superb way for the players to express themselves, and to learn football in an environment without the pressures of coaches and spectators screaming at them to win and get the ball towards goal as quickly as possible. As coaches we facilitate the games and the players ref their own games - street futsal does not require ref's and coaches to help run the game!'

“At first some of the players who have not had any experience of the Street Futsal are a little hesitant to do the tricks but once they get into the swing and see other players trying them they really enjoy it and their imagination starts to take over,” explained Lee.

“The skill shown by some of these young players is fantastic to see, but just as good to see is the enjoyment the players experience in street soccer, you only had to look at their faces during and after the games.

“The parents are fully supportive of the concept and it allows them to sit back and relax whilst being entertained by the wonderful skills on show." added Lee.
