Football West will welcome Football Federation Australia’s (FFA) new interim National Referees Technical Director Mario Van der Ende to WA this weekend in a whistle stop tour.
Van der Ende, a former top Dutch referee who officiated in over 400 professional league fixtures, including 135 FIFA internationals will arrive in Perth on Thursday afternoon and spend Friday morning at the Football West offices discussing refereeing at elite, member federation and grassroots level.
Van der Ende had a distinguished career that saw him officiate in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup’s as well as the 1996 European Championships in England in addition to being a member of the prestigious FIFA Referees Committee, a position he held for four years.
Whilst in WA, Van der Ende will also take in the Hyundai A-League match between Perth Glory and Newcastle Jets at Members Equity Stadium on Friday night.
