The round 12 State Premier League Match of the Week takes place at Inglewood United’s Clipsal Stadium this Saturday as the second placed hosts take on an ever improving Armadale side.

Inglewood have so far defied the critics who tipped them to be mid table at best, as they sit in the lofty heights of second position only one point away from the leaders Sorrento.

James Sammut is the form player for the Wood and will need to be closely watched by the Armadale defence. The young striker currently has five goals to his name but will be looking to add to that tally and keep the pressure on the Gulls.

Armadale have shown vastly improved form over the previous three weekends with two wins and only one loss, a 2-1 defeat at the Knights. New English signing James Robinson will be the danger man together with midfield talisman Gary Faria who is beginning to show glimpses of his best form following an extended spell away from the game.

All the signs point to an entertaining clash that has huge bearings on both teams fortunes, Inglewood as they bid for a top four spot and the championship, Armadale to put further daylight between them and the relegation spot currently occupied by Fremantle.

Wauhop Park will welcome top flight football back to the ground for the first time in many years as Fremantle entertain the league leaders Sorrento. Fremantle club officials have been hard at work to ready the ground and received Football West approval on Thursday morning for the game to go ahead, despite further work still required to be completed.

Fremantle are rooted to the bottom of the table and will be hoping that their new surrounds will inspire the side to pick up the points they need to escape relegation, however they are up against leaders Sorrento who have been in ominous goal scoring form and will be eying off another haul this weekend.

Mirko Jelicic will be hoping his Cockburn side can arrest their recent form slump as they do battle with Swan IC at Dalmatinac Park. Recent heavy defeats to ECU Joondalup and Mandurah last week have put a dent in their early season aspirations and they know another slip up cannot be afforded this weekend. The Swans have also recently stalled after some good early season form, and know that they must get a result if they are to seriously maintain a challenge on the top four. Damian Scali will be the man the Swans look to with the marksmen having netted 11 goals to date.

There will be a huge clash at E&D Litis Stadium as Mandurah are the visitors to the home of Floreat Athena. The dolphins were impressive last week in a 5-0 mauling of Cockburn including a double to City striker Phil O’Callaghan who keeps banging in the goals with his season tally now on 13. State captain Andy Brown has also been impressive, the classy midfielder provides opportunities for his team mates and can also score a goal himself, as is proven with his eight strikes thus far.

Athena knows the Mandurah defence can sometimes be suspect and they have the weaponry to exploit any weaknesses with kiwi Brad Scott in potent form of late. The Athena side, Champions in 2007, are aware of what it takes to win and Michael Roki is sure to have his side fired up for the game.

Nash Field will play host to the Western Knights and Stirling Lions with both sides loitering in the wrong half of the table. Whilst relegation is not a word on either sides lips, their chances to challenge for a top four spot are quickly fading away with three vital points up for grabs to the side who can step up on the day.

The Saturday late game sees Perth welcome ECU to the BGC Stadium for what should be another keenly fought encounter between the sides. Perth were lucky to escape with the three points last weekend against the Knights and will need an improved showing this time round if they are to knock over ECU. The Joondalup side has been hot and cold this season, good wins punctuated by bad losses however they still find themselves in the mix, but knowing they will require points to close the gap on those above them.

All games to be played Saturday 3.00pm except for Perth v ECU Joondalup which is at 7.30pm.

Get down to your local ground this weekend for the best of the WA Premier League action and watch the goals fly in.
