Saturday, 5th July 2008
Penny Tanner, John O’Connell and Dan Evans are on air again this Saturday thanks to Radio Fremantle and station sponsors, talking up The World Game.
The National Talent ID Championships are underway soon and we will follow the WA teams to see if they can match their own past good records at National level again this year.
Dan brings us all the news on the Holiday Programmes organised by Football West. We will look at the WA players and Coaches recognised at National level, and find out who they are and why they were recognised. We sample some of the amateur, junior and girls’ league standings and update you on State League, Women’s League and Cup competitions.
The Hall of Fame night looms July 26 and we have some very important names to recognise. Anna Senjuschenko, is a very famous WA footballer, recognised at 17 as one of the best in the world. Anna’s brother Alex joins us as one of the Nominees for the Night in the Hall of Merit. John will talk us through some of the names of the other nominees that you will definitely know and some you will know a little better for tuning into the show!
The Matildas are off again, this time to China. Can they continue their fantastic success on the road? We talked to Coach Tom Sermanni last week. This week Sarah Walsh joins us. Where are the WA girls? Sarah is nursing a broken leg from the Matildas last tour and will bring us the news on our WA stars playing around the globe in professional and semi professional leagues.
Robbie Dunn chats about the WA men’s team, Perth Glory and the A League. Glory is overseas preparing themselves for the upcoming A league season. Their first games are in a few weeks time, will they be ready?
The Fox Superstar Series is underway and WA good representation. How are our boys looking?
The Socceroos are doing well in their qualifying campaign. Did they do themselves justice in front of 70,000 Aussie Fans?
Netherlands and Russia provided very exciting football leading up to the finals of Euro 2008. Even if you weren’t a fan of the finalists you would have to have been a fan of their football. Spain gave Germany a lesson in showcase football and Torres did the triple to give Spain their first major win in 40 years.
Chris Coyne joins us for a moment before heading back to the English First Division.
Call the show between 9-11am on 9494 2100 with questions for our guests or to share your news. You can also text Penny on 0408 921 832 or send an email to
