Football West National Training Centre (NTC) pair Trent Sainsbury and Milljon Butshiire have both been selected to represent the Australian Under 16 National side in the upcoming Asean Football Federation Youth Championship in Jakarta from 9-19 July.
The five team tournament also includes Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore and the host nation Indonesia and will see the Qantas Joeys play four matches in six days with the finals to be held on July 19.
Trent Sainsbury is a dashing defender from Armadale whilst Butshiire, from Yokine, is one of three strikers in the 18 man squad chosen by coach Martyn Crook. Sainsbury and Butshiire are a part of the NTC Boys side that currently sits in equal first spot on the Football West State Premier League Reserves table. Football West CEO Garry Chandler is delighted that WA is being represented on the national stage yet again.
“The past twelve months have been remarkable given the number of WA representatives, both boys and girls, which have been considered for national selection, and is a great testament to the NTC Programs and the direction provided by our coaching staff.” “The inclusion of Trent and Milljon is a great personal achievement for the boys, and comes as a result of not only their undoubted natural ability, but also the dedication, commitment and hard work they put into their development and training. I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone in the Western Australian football community in wishing them well at the Championships” said Chandler.
