Football West to Launch Acdemy Program for 9-11 year olds
Monday, 12 May 2008
Talented young players in Western Australia will have an even greater opportunity to develop their skills and technical ability from 2008 onwards, as Football West launches the expansion of the Academy Program to cater for U9, U10 and U11 Players.
This addition to the Football West Talented Player Pathway will provide fantastic development opportunities for young players who possess the ability, attitude and desire to play at a higher level and will increase Football West’s ability to identify and nurture the young talent currently playing football within the State.
Football West will launch the new age groups to the development program in the Metropolitan area with trials commencing throughout June 2008 and will roll out the full program in Term 3 2008.
“The inclusion of the younger age groups in the Perth Glory Academy Program is a vital step in providing real opportunities for identification and development for talented young players on the Football West Pathway” says Football West Education and Development Manager Andrew Bettell
“We now will have a quality development program in place for young players who have aspirations of playing football at the highest levels of the game and will provide a natural progression into our State Teams and NTC squads.”
The roll out of the Academy program will be paralleled in regional areas with programs already running in Geraldton, and with Albany, Goldfields and South West coming on line in the immediate future.
