Wednesday, 23 April 2008
In the Loans Café Amateur Premier Division there is a three way tie at the top of the table after two rounds with Murdoch University, Southern Spirit and Joondalup all on maximum points.
Murdoch lead on goals scored, and they had to come from behind to eventually beat Hamersley Rovers 3-2 in a tight encounter at the Len Shearer Reserve.

The visitors were ahead on 16 minutes through an own goal, but Walsh leveled three minutes later. Gojic then gave the home side the lead on the half hour, but Rovers hit back midway through the second half when Day leveled. But the host’s weren’t to be outdone and after only being on the pitch for three minutes Haansauus scored the winner in the 75th minute.

Southern Spirit continued Shamrock Rovers’ poor start to the season with a 2-1 win at Watson Reserve. It was a scoreless first half but the home side hit the front on 51 minutes with a goal from Palin. It was two in the 66th minute, second half substitute Faria scoring, Rovers scored a late consolation goal from Brooks.

Joondalup made it two out of two with a hard fought 1-0 victory against Fremantle United at the Joondalup Arena, with a goal on 34 minutes from Doherty.

In other games Lynwood Colts came away from McGillivray Oval with a 2-2 draw against UWA, and Olympic Kingsway and Perth Azzurri played out a scoreless draw at the Kingsway Reserve. The game between Spearwood Dalmatinac and Maccabi was postponed.
