Last week saw the start of the season proper for Football West with the first round of the State League and the Smarter than Smoking Women’s League. Zane will bring you up to date with all the happenings in the women’s competitions, including results, fixtures and news. Ann will cover the State League with all the latest results, upcoming fixtures and news. The Team will also be joined in the studio by two local football personalities to give their views on the State League.
This year sees the introduction of night matches in the Football West State League. Reigning League champions Floreat Athena and newly promoted Mandurah City kicked off this initiative last Saturday night. Athena’s championship coach Michael Roki talks about last year’s title, the changes in the squad and the 2008 season in general.
Despite missing out on qualification for the Olympics, the Matildas have a packed schedule lined up for the next 6 months. It includes matches against the world’s best and brilliant in the USA and Brazil. Matilda’s coach Tom Sermanni joins the programme to discuss the challenges facing his squad post World Cup and the aims for 2008 and beyond.
