The Loans Café 2008 Amateur Premier Division kicked off on Sunday and the big surprise came at Harold Rossiter Reserve were last season’s Champions, Shamrock Rovers were beaten 0-2 against Spearwood Dalmatinac, with first half goals from Farreira and Petkovich.
Southern Spirit, who beat Queens Park in the Soccer Pool Cup last week, continued their good start to the season with hard fought 2-1 win against Lynwood Colts at Hossack Reserve. The home side went in front on 35 minutes when Chiri scored, but Spirit equalised just before half time through Palin, and the winner came on the hour from Faria.
Fremantle United began their season with a 2-1 home victory against Olympic Kingsway at Hilton Reserve. The opener came on 14 minutes from the home side from Smith, but six seconds later Olympic hit back with the equalizer from Albonetti. The winner for United came late from Pink.
In other games Hammersley Rover beat UWA 3-2 at Carine Open Space; Joondalup United traveled to the Maccabean Memorial Park and came away with a 1-0 victory against Maccabi, and Murdoch won 2-1 away at Perth Azzurri.
