Round One - ECU Joondalup vs Perth S.C. PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 April 2008
ECU Joondalup and Perth SC have played out a tough two all draw at the ECU Arena on Saturday afternoon. A strong second half enabled ECU Joondalup to get back into the game after being down two goals to nil at half time.

Returning Striker David Onoforo gave Perth the advantage, scoring early in the first half after being superbly setup by new signing David Price

Both teams had their share of possession in the first half but Perth made more of their chances.

Price again setup Onoforo for his second in the 47th minute. Price rushed down the right hand side of the Joondalup defence crossing it to a breaking Onoforo who cracked it into the top corner from close range. Perth went into the half time break two goals up.

Joondalup came out firing in the second half with a number of chances going unfulfilled thanks to a combination of poor finishing and a series of sensational saves from Perth keeper Gareth Deeg.

Joondalup finally put one away in the 55th minute thanks to a superb strike from John Thornley, his first goal for the club since moving from the Western Knights.

Joondalup dominated possession for much of the second half and had numerous opportunities to draw level. Captain Ian Mc Murray worked hard and reaped the reward for his effort when he put one past Deeg in the 87th minute, drawing them level in the dying stages of the match.

Onoforo finished with two goals for the match in a lively display, while Mc Murray worked hard all day for the home side.

Perth will be looking for their first win of the season against newly promoted Mandurah City next Saturday night, while ECU Joondalup are away to the Western Knights.
