Inglewood United in Cup Round 2, when they knocked out Gosnells City

SOCCER POOLS CUP QUARTER FINAL MATCH OF THE WEEK

Inglewood United v Shamrock Rovers- Clipsal Stadium, Saturday 3.00pm

Broadcast live on 107.3 Heritage FM from 2.55pm
Match highlights available at
www.footballwest.tv from Monday afternoon

Amateur side Shamrock Rovers will be hoping to pull of a giant killing on Saturday afternoon when the hoops travel to Clipsal Stadium to take on Inglewood United in the Soccer Pools Cup Quarter Final Match of the Week.

The Rovers currently sit atop the Amateur Premier League and have already knocked out two State League Division One clubs in Dianella White Eagles 3-0 in the first round before dumping Morley Windmills 4-1 in Round 2. O'Shea and Mulligan are the main threats in front of goal for the Rovers who will be backed by a partisan crowd from the Sunday leagues.

Inglewood United will certainly not be taking this game lightly if past experience in the Soccer Pools Cup this season is anything to go by. The Clipsal Stadium side were pushed all the way by another Amateur side UWA in Round 1 and eventually won 2-1 after the Uni side took the lead early on. United then laboured to a 1-0 victory over Division One side Gosnells City in Round 2 and have been hot and cold in the league, currently sitting in eighth position.

This game has goals in it and will be a classic David & Goliath battle between the elite Saturday and Sunday leagues in WA. Get down to Clipsal Stadium, 3.00pm this Saturday to witness a cracking match and if you can't be there, tune in to 107.3 Heritage FM for all of the live action.

Western Knights v South West Phoenix- Nash Field, Saturday 3.00pm

Match highlights available Monday afternoon at www.footballwest.tv

High flying Western Knights will take on the South West Phoenix in the Soccer Pools Cup Quarter Final Feature Match at Nash Field. The Phoenix are the pride of the South West and will be looking to claim the scalp of the home side and progress to the semi finals however will face a huge test against the second placed Knights.

Coach Paul Price has transformed the Knights from a mid table inconsistent side to one that is cohesive, working for each other and laden with talented players, none more so than the Micevski brothers David and Daniel who can turn a game instantly on their own boot. Home ground advantage will be a factor thanks to the small dimensions of the Nash Field pitch which should provide the Knights with an edge.

The Phoenix have battled to get to the Quarter Final stage with a 3-2 win over Olympic Kingsway before a penalty shootout triumph over Fremantle SC after both sides were locked at 1-1 at full time. The South West side are battling for promotion to the Premier League, currently sitting in fourth position after a slide in results in the previous two weeks however will be out to prove that they can match it with the Premier League big boys, and that South West football is a force to be reckoned with.

SMARTER THAN SMOKING WOMENS LEAGUE ROUND 9 MATCH OF THE WEEK

East Fremantle v Northern Redbacks - Wauhop Park Sunday 1pm

It's North v South in the Smarter than Smoking Women's League as newly crowned League leaders East Fremantle take on the side they replaced, the Northern Redbacks.

East Fremantle are in red hot form with a six match winning streak including 14 goals in three matches.  With the side scoring 38 goals this campaign, it's not surprising that forwards Falacci Johnston and Katarina Jukic are at the pointy end of the Golden Boot table.  The port side have no shortage of talented players with midfielders Sarah Hughes and Ebony Drane supplying quality ball and defenders Anna Sweetingham, Anique Keisler & Co ensuring they have the second best defensive record in the League.

The Northern Redbacks lost their top billing after two losses on the trot to traditional rivals Queens Park and Balcatta.  Tim Hodgson's side can feel a little unlucky as they have created plenty of chances in both matches but the lack of convert has cost them.  Central midfielders Nicola Williams and Carys Hawkins are missing but Rebecca Dudek and Elisabeth Maeland have been able replacements.  The Redbacks have also been scoring freely with Jackie Nellany leading the Golden Boot on 11 and strike partner Lara Filicamo not far behind.

The two sides last met in the Smarter than Smoking Women's Night Series Final with East Fremantle coming out on top 2 - 1.  With both teams containing considerable arsenal, this match will be turn on the performance of the defences.
