Football West News

The Football West National Training Centre (NTC) coached by Kenny Lowe has starred at Canberra's annual FFA State Institute Challenge with another series of brilliant team and individual performances.

Last year saw the Football West NTC finish equal top on the group points table, but this year the team missed out on the coveted number one position taken by Northern New South Wales, by just one point. On the style table, Football West finished second to Queensland.

In another boost to WA development, four players were identified for the All Star team with Daniel DeSilva, Matthew Ntoumenopoulos, Jeremy Tshongo and Josh Tucker all selected.

The Football West coaching staff also made mention that Leo Athanasiou and Jack Iredale were unlucky to not also be picked for the All Stars.

Lowe was also named the prestigious Coach of the Tournament as selected by all the State Technical Directors, including National Technical Director Han Berger.

WA was also represented in officiating, with 18-year-old Matthew Southern (Swan View) selected to referee at the week-long tournament.

New Football West Technical Director Cris Ola said: "This has been another fantastic performance from Football West on the national stage - a testament to the progress we have made to be widely acknowledged as one of the country's leading talent developers.

"The boys selected in the All Stars thoroughly deserved their selections and for Kenny (Lowe) to also be named the All Stars coach is fantastic news.

"Everyone at Football West is very proud of how the team performed on and off the field and we look forward to another successful year in 2012."
